This unique 12-month program offers friendly, outgoing,
hospitality-oriented individuals from British Columbia to Newfoundland the
opportunity to represent the cultures and traditions of Canada while
interacting with Guests from all over the world. Participants hired as Cultural
Representatives will work in the Epcot® Canada Pavilion.
Epcot opened at the Walt Disney World®
Resort on October 1, 1982. As part of Epcot, World Showcase has become
"a community of nations; the only permanent international exposition of its
kind, focusing on the culture, traditions, tourism and accomplishments of
people around the world." This community of nations is represented by the
United Kingdom, France, Morocco, Japan, Italy, Germany, China, Norway, Mexico,
the United States of America and Canada.
Approaching the Canada Pavilion, Guests encounter rock
formations and Totem poles, authentic examples of Northwestern Native American
"family trees." These Totem poles are a natural complement to the log cabin
construction of the Northwest Mercantile at the Canada Pavilion. The Victorian
stone Hotel du Canada features French-gothic design and is the focal point of
the Canada Pavilion.
Continuing their journey along a path blasted out of the
steep mountainside, Guests pass a 30-foot waterfall cascading into a lake and
are confronted by the abandoned mine shaft of Moosehead Mine. Bravely entering
the mineshaft, they discover the Circle-Vision 360 movie "O Canada!" After the
film, Guest exit the theater and find themselves in the superbly landscaped
Victoria Gardens. At the edge of the gardens, nestled beneath the Hotel du
Canada, is Le Cellier Steakhouse, where Guests sample aged beef from the
Midwest and seafood from Northern waters with flavors celebrating Canadian
provinces and territories. Carts on the World Showcase Promenade offer
refreshments and Leather Treaty products to the departing Guests.
