Kingdom® Theme Park.
Disney's Animal Kingdom® Theme Park opened on
April 22, 1998, and is a unique nature-adventure park. It combines close
encounters with live animals of all kinds, prehistoric dinosaurs, legendary
creatures and animated stars of Disney classic films. The park contains six
themed lands, including The Oasis, Camp Minnie-Mickey, the Discovery
Island® Area, the DinoLand U.S.A.® Area, and the continents
of Africa and Asia.
While visiting the themed land of Asia, Guests may
experience the Kali River Rapids® Attraction, an Asian-river-raft
thrill that takes them past ancient animal carvings, waterfalls and lush
greenery. They encounter many adventures as the raft follows the river down
steep waterfalls and winding curves. Guests visiting the Asia Area may also
choose to embark on the the Maharajah Jungle Trek® Attraction, where
they will journey into the lush forests for an unparalleled adventure into the
wilds of the mystical Anandapur Royal Forest of Southeast Asia. On their
adventure they may encounter tigers, giant fruit bats, tapirs, Komodo dragons
and many other beautiful and exotic animals.
Asia is also home to Expedition Everest - Legend of the
Forbidden Mountain®. This thrilling journey through the treacherous
Himalayas features hairpin turns, high speeds and a massive 80-foot drop. But
it's the mountain's guardian, the mysterious Yeti, stalking every rider who
dares to enter his realm that really makes this an adventure to remember!
